Cell-C

Cell-cThe business plan envisages creating 2 500 direct and 15 000 indirect jobs within four to five years, encompassing individuals from all previously disadvantaged sectors.

Cell-c current staff complement is 1206 and at present, more than 87% of the employees come from previously disadvantaged groups. Women account for more than 40 percent of the total staff complement, a figure that far exceeds the industry norm.

Cell-c is also committed to empowerment and the organisation is a true reflection of the country's demographics. Cell-c making extensive use of local organisations and contractors to ensure that funds are injected into the South African economy. Through our commitment to local business and skills, Cell-c have invested more than R2.5 billion in goods and services since the launch - with more than R990 million of this benefiting historically disadvantaged individuals.

By focusing on flexibility and choice, Cell-c is confident of the ability to capture around 20% of the total cellular market by 2007.

Comcel

ComcelCOMCEL commenced its operations in Bogotá on July 1, 1994, and it is currently the leading cell phone operator in the Colombian market with a share of 64% of subscribers nationwide. The cell phone industry in Colombia is currently enjoying rapid expansion and growth, and it now has 28 million users.

COMCEL has the capacity for nationwide provision, allowing users throughout Colombia to access new technologies, enhanced services and improved mobile network cover.

Entel

EntelEmpresa Nacional de Telecommunications, S.A. is one of Chile’s largest telecommunications firms with assets of Ch$1,135,449 and annual revenues of Ch$766.361 at December 2005. The company delivers cell phone services, long term and local telephony, data and internet services.
It has a strong presence in the Hispanic market in the United States, as well as operations in Central America and Peru. Entel is listed on the Santiago stock exchange under the ENTEL symbol and has its center of operations in Santiago de Chile.

Movistar

MovistarTelefónica Movistar is one of the world’s leading telecommunications firms, with a presence in Europe, Africa and Latin America. In June 2006, Telefónica had some 191.7 million customers.
In June 2006, the company had an average headcount of 222,678 employees (+23.5% compared to the same period in the prior year).

The Group is fifth placed in the world Telco industry by stock market capitalization and is ranked eighth in the Eurostoxx 50 (August 25, 2006). The Group has over 1.5 million direct shareholders and its stock is listed on Spanish and foreign exchanges.

MTN

MTNLaunched in 1994, the MTN Group is a multinational telecommunications group, operating in 21 countries in Africa and the Middle East. As at 31 March 2006, MTN recorded more than 28 million subscribers across its operations, including those of the newly acquired Investcom LLC.

SOUTHERN AFRICA REGION

MTN South Africa, MTN Swaziland, MTN Zambia and Botswana Mascom, in which MTN has a 44% indirect stake, make up the Southern Africa region.

WEST AND CENTRAL AFRICA REGION

The region consists of MTN Nigeria, MTN Cameroon, MTN Congo SA, MTN Cote d'Ivoire and Investcom operations Benin, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Republic and Liberia.

MIDDLE EAST, NORTH AND EAST AFRICA REGION

The region is made up of MTN Uganda, MTN Rwanda, MTN Irancell and Investcom operations Afghanistan, Cyprus, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

Telcel

TelcelTelcel is a young company but it already has a big history, going back to 1978 when it commenced the installation and operation of a mobile radiotelephony (car phone) system in Mexico City.

Telcel is Mexico’s leading cell phone operator. It has consistently grown user numbers, penetration and services over the last five years as a result of major capex flows aimed at expanding the cover and capacity of its cellular network. This has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the development of the Mexican telecommunications industry in the present and in the future.

Telcel is currently in the midst of a major growth phase, as the number of cell phone users rapidly expands. There are currently 49,445 million cell phone users in Mexico, and Telcel has a market share of 79%.

It is a subsidiary of América Móvil, one of Latin America’s major cellular communications providers and a leading group with telecommunications investments in various countries throughout the Americas.

Tigo (Colombia Móvil)

TigoColombia Móvil, S.A. E.S.P. was formed two years ago to operate the OLA/Tigo brand as the country’s leading PCS mobile telephony provider and the only 100% Colombian-owned firm in the industry.

Colombia Móvil has total assets worth over US$ 700 million and has generated 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. Most importantly, however, it opened up cell phone services to the Colombian people, changing consumer habits in record time.

Vodacom

VodacomVodacom is a Pan-African cellular communications company providing a world class GSM service to more than 21.5 million customers in South Africa, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Lesotho, and has just secured a licence in Mozambique.

Vodacom is the market leader in all of the countries where it currently operates, with satisfactory customer growth, most notably in Mozambique.

Vodacom has a 57% share of the South African market, Africa's largest and most profitable cellular market. Vodacom's South African GSM network consists of nearly 6400 base stations and covers more than 6% of the total landmass of South Africa and 97.1% of the population. Shareholding: Telkom SA - 50%, Vodafone Group - 50%.
