PRESS RELEASE ATINCO LAUNCHES “ENTRETIENE” IN COLOMBIA Atinco continues its international expansion with the launch of the Bogotá, July 31, 2006 – The leading cell phone technology and content provider, Atinco, has just launched the “Entretiene” brand (http://www.entretiene.com.co) in Colombia. After over eighteen months of intense work in Colombia, Atinco has succeeded in bringing its product and service proposal to customers under the “Entretiene” brand. The launch went ahead after agreements had been closed with the country’s three cell phone operators (Comcel, Movistar and OLA) and contracts made with music publishers. The brand was launched under the umbrella of Colombia’s leading communications media, guaranteeing mass reach optimized for Entretiene’s target audience. Entretiene is the brand used by Atinco to offer personalization products, interactivity, games and entertainment aimed at the mobile world in the markets of the Spanish-speaking world. Entretiene has already been launched in other Latin American countries such as Mexico and Bolivia. “Colombia is a strategic market for Atinco’s operations in Latin America.Colombia has long shown itself to be a country with strong potential, and it represents one of the major opportunities in the field of cell phone technology, given the technological maturity of cell phone customers and the market’s growth potential,” according to Carmelo Gayubo, Financial Vice-President and the executive in charge of new openings. “From now on,” continues Gayubo, “Atinco’s investments in Colombia will intensify as we consolidate the moves we have already made to position the firm as the leading player in the cell entertainment market in Colombia in the short term.” Following the launch in South Africa in April of this year, Atinco has succeeded with Colombia in opening the business in two countries during the same calendar year. The main difficulty, aside from the intrinsic problems inherent in opening in each market, lies in the cultural differences between the latest two launch countries. While South Africa is a multi-cultural and multi-lingual society in which English is widely used as a common tongue (and to a lesser extent Afrikaans), Colombia is a modern, Spanish-speaking nation with a modern Hispanic culture. This was achieved using the Atinco platform with the aid of the engineering team responsible for the integration process. The launch included content from Alejandro Sanz, MotoGP, Big Brother, Operación Triunfo and many more. Atinco has also developed applications like Affinity (matching software using Symbian and Bluetooth) and VoiceMMS (allowing voice messages to be sent at the touch of a button) for clients such as Nokia. Atinco currently has affiliates in seven countries, where its Entretiene and Jetcel brands have won millions of users. |
